Stockton Grade School & Junior High

Stockton Grade School and Junior High serves preschool through eighth grade students in a close-knit rural Kansas community. We provide a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Thank you for supporting our efforts in creating a thriving hub of learning, leadership, and community spirit.

Academic Program

Our curriculum adheres to state standards in all subjects, with a strong focus on literacy, mathematics, and whole-child development through proven MTSS practices. We also offer instruction in art, music, and physical education.

Beyond academics, our teachers emphasize a culture of belonging and Tiger P.R.I.D.E. through monthly “surprise and delight” celebrations and strong family-community partnerships. We desire to help every child feel seen, valued, and connected.

Standards-Based Grading

We measure student proficiency using standards-based grading that helps everyone focus on learning while providing teachers with insight into the efficacy of their teaching style. This grading system highlights what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. It clearly communicates students’ strengths and weaknesses as they progress toward academic mastery.

Our grading reports also track behavioral factors that affect student achievement—things like social skills, staying on task in the classroom, and effort. While these skills are important components of a successful life, we do not believe they should inflate or deflate student grades that reflect their understanding of what is being taught in class.

Library

Primary students enjoy scheduled library time each week during which they learn research skills, check out books, and practice digital citizenship. Intermediate students may visit the library anytime with teacher permission. We encourage all students to make use of the library, both digitally and in person, for school work and pleasure reading.
