"Billie (Chesney) Knowles is a member of the 2011 graduating class at SHS.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Kansas State University in 2015, majoring in Animal Science, and receiving a certificate in Beef Cattle Ranch Management. She has since found her niche in rural economic and community development, and works for Phillips County Economic Development in Phillipsburg.
Billie married Jim Knowles from Kirwin, Kansas in 2021, and they live in Phillipsburg with their two children, Ethan, 17, and Ella, 11."


Post Secondary Success from SHS: Sidnee Brown graduated in 2014. She then graduated with her BSN as a registered nurse in 2018. She worked in Topeka for 4 years as an RN and now lives in Stockton and works at Hays Med as the infection control and associate health nurse. She will complete my MSN (masters) in August of 2025 :)


Post Secondary Success at SHS: Melissa Ard graduated last year (2023). She is currently at Barton Community College getting her associates degree, also serving as a student ambassador. Melissa will be graduating in the summer from Barton and will be attending Fort Hays State University to get her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education.


Post Secondary Success at SHS: Miranda McCune graduated with the Class of 2007.
She graduated FHSU with a B.S. in Business Management. She owned an ice cream shop for 2 years. She worked at Hays Med Center for 9 years, 8 of those years were in leadership in Dietary. She is currently living in Plainville KS assisting with 5th graders. Hoping to get her substitution license next school year.


Post Secondary Success at SHS: Stephen and Hayley Moll are both a part of the 2010 graduating class at SHS! They dated all through JH and HS and now have 3 wonderful boys
They live in Smith Center with their 3 boys (Lincoln - 6, Theodore - 3, and Sullivan - 3 months). Stephen and Hayley both graduated from Washburn University in 2014. Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor chemistry and Hayley graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Stephen went on to medical school at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City and Hayley began working as a RN. They slowly made their way back to western Kansas over the years and finishing up all the medical school/residency things. Now, they live in Smith Center where Stephen practices at the Smith County Memorial Hospital/Smith County Family Practice as a Family Physician and Hayley is the school nurse for all of USD237!


Post Secondary Success from SHS: Kayleigh Cunningham is a sophomore in nursing school and currently work for Salina family healthcare center as a medical assistant in the outreach department. She graduated in 2022.


Today we kick off our Post Secondary Success Stories from SHS: Aaron Hahn graduated from Stockton in 2018 and then from the University of Kansas in 2022. He is in Scottsdale, AZ. He is the director of Equipment and Clubhouse for the Colorado Rockies minor leagues.

The Juniors have been busy studying the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe. They used “The Raven” as a reference for the figurative language collaboration mural.

The Osborne JH Meet is on April 19th!
(Not April 18th) This meet starts at 9:30 am.

The 2023-2024 Yearbooks are on sale!! The yearbook staff has been working hard all year collecting pictures and creating pages. The books are $50 and cover Pre-School through Seniors and everything in between. Orders are due April 12th. Forms available in each building office. Make check payable to SHS Activity.

Today we attended the Kansas Educator Engagement and Retention Summit in Salina. We had reps from our STA, school board, Rooks County, and admin team so we could gain more insight on recruitment and retention for USD 271.


Today was field day for Hunter's Safety. All students that signed up have passed and enjoyed learning about hunting. Thank you Rodney Moss and all area game wardens for making this possible for our kids.
