USD 271 Summer Food Service Program
Free Summer Meals for Kids & Teens!
USD 271 is proud to participate in the Summer Food Service Program, offering free Grab & Go meals to all children ages 1–18, regardless of income or residence.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Children Must be Present to Receive Meals
Federal guidelines allow parent or guardian pickup only if a district has an approved accountability plan on file with the state. This plan must:
Ensure meals are distributed only to the child’s legal guardian
Document this information daily (if meals are served daily)
Include procedures to ensure reasonable assurance that meals are going to the intended children
Maintain verification logs to ensure compliance
USD 271 does not have this plan in place. Therefore, children must be physically present to receive meals.
No exceptions can be made.
Please also note:
Federal guidelines place a cap on the number of meals that may be distributed through parent/guardian pickup plans (see federal documentation).
If such a plan were in place, this cap could further limit how many meals we are able to serve each day.
USD 271 does not operate under a guardian pickup plan.
We want to ensure maximum meal access to children and follow all state and federal guidelines so that this opportunity remains available to all children—both local and visiting—for years to come.
For more information, please review the highlighted federal guidelines provided with this notice.

Regularly Scheduled Board of Education meeting will be held June 9, 2025, at 5:30 in the District Office. Click for agenda: https://5il.co/3huar
